About Us

About the Wanganui Events Trust.

The Wanganui Events Trust is registered with the Charities Commission, reg. no. CC25035.

Experience, local knowledge and professional business sense is drawn from the members of the Wanganui Events Trust Board who are all Wanganui people volunteering their time. Their role is focused on governance and strategy for our events, although they do also love to get involved and support our activities at an operational level.

Current Trustees are:

  • Leigh Grant (Chair) – Manager of Transfield Services, Wanganui
  • Trevor Strong (Vice Chair) – Managing Director of SEL Group
  • Michael Green – Rotary Club of Wanganui
  • Sue Gurr – Retired
  • Perry Lett – Manager of Joe Lett Ltd
  • John Lower – Owner of Lower Engineering
  • Les Lunny – Past President of Touch NZ
  • Peter Redpath – Partner of Sewell & Wilson, chartered Accountants
  • Rose Stokes – Director of Inferno Design & Advertising

All management and operational activities are undertaken by the WET operations team, which currently has three full time employees:

  • Mike Cronin is the general manager with over 4 years in the events industry preceded by over 20 years in project management in the construction industry.
  • Ian Lane joined the team 9 months ago as the events administrator and brings many years of experience in accounting and office administration in both local government and corporate and private sectors.
  • Sophie Johnson offers administration support to the organisation as well as a bundle of enthusiasm and has been with the Trust for just on two years all the while gaining significant experience and confidence in her role.
